The Hard Truth of Fictional Femininity

Is there hard truth in this post? Yes. Yes, there is. Or there at least should be. To be frank, femininity is an important topic. One that many people have different opinions on. This is about femininity and isn't going to gloss over or sugar coat things. So if you don't want to get into some of the messy details, you might want to go read something else. That said, one topic I'm not touching right now is sexual crimes. So you can at least know that this post is free of that.

I'm back with another blog tag. This time it's the Sunshine Blogger Award. Blogs get nominated for this award when they bring sunshine into people's lives. Plus, it brings some sunshine into the blogger's life as well.

I was nominated by R. M. Archer over at Scribes and Archers. The link below is her reponse to being tagged.

What is authorial power? Well, it's the power of the author. Authorial power is what lets the author make decisions and be the ultimate authority on their content.

(I definitely didn't decide to write this post just for the puns.)

Lots of people will tell you to "write what you know." This is pretty solid advice at first glance, right? But should you really take it? Is it worth it to only write what you know?

My Favorite Writing App for Phones

7/16/2022

I haven't tried a lot of apps for writing on my phone, but I figured I'd try one out a couple of months ago. Long story short, I did some browsing and picked one out. I wasn't sure if I'd keep it, but I ended up doing just that.

I am very pleased to announce that the blog has survived another year! Which means that today is the 2nd blogiversary.

It's hard to believe that time has gone by so quickly, but I suppose that's what happens when you do what you love.

And today, to celebrate, I have a very special post for you all.

If you're anything like me, whenever you see something cool in a book you immediately think one of two things:

"Oh hey, that's a great idea! I want to try using that concept/theme in one of my own books because I love it so much!"

Or "...this author did such a horrible job at using this concept/theme I need to take a crack at it myself just to put a well-done version in the world."

Which is how I found myself trying to untangle multiple magic systems existing side-by-side.

By now, you've probably heard of Wattpad. It is famous, after all. Wattpad is a site that's often been called "the YouTube of writing" and for good reason- anyone can write (almost) anything, upload it, and become an author. It's pretty easy. But, like YouTube, there are definitely downsides that you need to consider first.

This is the list of reasons why I tell fellow writers/authors to steer clear of Wattpad unless they have a very good reason.

It has been quite a while since I posted an update. Unfortunately, life got busy between academic and health reasons, but I am finally back up on my feet enough to work on the blog! Instagram, however, is a whole other story... I've never really gotten the hang of it.
